Your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains what data MMOBASE collects, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. By using mmobase.co.uk, you agree to the terms of this policy.

1. What We Collect

We collect the following data when you use MMOBASE:

• Account data: Your email address, full name, and an encrypted password when you sign up for MMOBASE
• EVE Online data: When you link your EVE character, we access data from CCP's ESI API using the scopes you authorise — this can include character stats, skills, wallet, assets, ship info, market orders, and related information
• Technical data: Basic usage information like browser type and IP address, stored temporarily in server logs
• Preferences: Light/dark mode choice stored in your browser via localStorage

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

• Display your EVE character information on your personal dashboard
• Let you log in to MMOBASE
• Improve the site and fix bugs
• Communicate with you about your account or important updates (if you've consented)
• Detect and prevent abuse of the service

We will never sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything beyond providing the MMOBASE service.

3. Where Your Data Is Stored

Your account data is stored on Supabase, a third-party backend service provider. Supabase is GDPR-compliant and stores data securely with encryption. You can read Supabase's privacy policy here.

EVE Online character data is accessed live from CCP's ESI API when you view your dashboard and is not permanently stored on our servers. We may store historical snapshots of public character data (like wallet balance or asset value over time) to enable features like wealth tracking — this data is tied to your account and deleted if you delete your account.

4. Third Parties

MMOBASE integrates with the following third parties:

• CCP Games (EVE Online ESI API): When you link your EVE character, you authorise CCP to share your in-game data with MMOBASE. You can revoke this at any time from CCP's third-party applications page
• Supabase: Our backend and authentication provider, where your MMOBASE account data is stored
• Discord: We link to our Discord community but Discord is a separate service with its own privacy policy

5. Cookies and Local Storage

MMOBASE uses browser localStorage to remember your light/dark mode preference and to keep you signed in to your account. We do not use third-party tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies.

6. Your Rights (UK/GDPR)

If you're based in the UK or EU, you have the following rights under GDPR:

• Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correction: Ask us to correct any inaccurate data
• Deletion: Request that we delete your account and associated data ("right to be forgotten")
• Portability: Request your data in a portable format
• Objection: Object to certain uses of your data

7. Data Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be removed from our servers within 30 days. Server logs may be retained for up to 90 days for security purposes.

8. Children's Privacy

MMOBASE is not intended for users under the age of 13. If we learn that we've collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.

9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data, including encrypted passwords, HTTPS on all pages, and secure token storage for EVE SSO. However, no service is 100% secure. If a data breach occurs that affects your information, we will notify affected users promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and notify users of major changes via the site or Discord.
